Karlskirche at dusk

Karlskirche, also known as St. Charles's Church, is a baroque-style church located in the city of Vienna, Austria. The church was commissioned by Emperor Charles VI in 1713, following a vow he made during a plague epidemic. The construction of the church took over 20 years and was completed in 1737. The church's design is a combination of various architectural styles, including Roman, Greek, and Baroque. The most notable feature of the church is its large dome, which is surrounded by four smaller domes. The exterior of the church is decorated with sculptures and intricate details, while the interior features frescoes and ornate decorations. Karlskirche is considered one of the most important buildings of the Baroque period in Austria and is a popular tourist destination. Visitors can climb up to the top of the dome for panoramic views of the city or attend one of the many concerts and events held in the church throughout the year.
